Marathons

It would be so easy to write a book or make a movie about us.
People thought we would be together but after 4 months of solid dating we aren’t.
We decided to part ways even though sometimes having you just as friend hits my heart hard.
These days we still run marathons together when we see each other - just like the old days we chat about all the bullshit in the world, drink as much caffeine as we can physically bear and exchange our hopes and fears in a ‘see you soon’ big hug.
I know you will meet someone soon in the same way I will and everything will be fine.
Because it always is, even when your best friend is unable to love you back and you know that a love like this only comes once in a lifetime.
