Messed up

We’ve known each other for years with no romantic feelings. Started talking in lockdown which resulted with him suggesting a bottle of wine by the river in my city. We spent the whole day walking and talking. It was the best date I’ve had in years. Took us 3 dates to kiss and when we did, it was good 😏...
2 months on, things were going fantastic. He met my friends (socially distanced, of course) and suggested that I meet his son the next weekend. Honestly thought I was falling for him.
Then he didn’t speak to me for over a week. Blamed being overworked. Then he kept cancelling plans and telling me that he was overwhelmed with life in general and felt it was going so good and he messed it up. Now he won’t talk to me and I’ve been left with so many questions.
