Stupid games

Three days before our first date he sent me a message assuming it was off because I'd not replied for a few days.
For seven years I'd been single. Tried every (and I mean every) app/website/dating event out there, even eHarmony for christ's sake. I was serious about meeting someone but it wasn't happening for me and it was never simple.
Then, there he was and that was it.
Lockdown hit within six weeks of our first date, but by then he'd already met my family and we'd been exclusive since week two.
After years of second guessing every message, debating the merits of turning off blue ticks and constant disappointment, suddenly it was simple. Everything was easy.
Lockdown served as a test drive for us and I moved in to his fairly soon. We're yet to argue, or fart in front of one another, and now, after a relationship spent 90% in solitary confinement, we've decided to move to the other side of the world for some adventures.
My stomach turns when I think that I could have screwed it up that easily - by playing it cool and not replying. Following stupid rules that serve no one well.
