Un-Breaking Point

We met on Hinge late last year. Things were going really well and developing rapidly until lockdown was announced. She went back to Ireland to quarantine with her family, I stayed in London.

The distance, and pressures on her career caused by lockdown, put a strain on our contact and after a few weeks it became a little different. Calls felt forced and we couldn't seem to get each other at the right times. She wasn't even sure she would be returning to London at all.

Then, after a few solemn chats over a few weeks, where it felt like things were really drying up, she suddenly announced she was going to fly back to stay in her flat for the remainder of lockdown. She was really keen to see me and wanted to meet up, though we knew the only way was to move in together, which felt like a terrible idea after such a shit few weeks. I felt really torn by it, knowing the obvious risks, though I just couldn't say no.

Her housemates were all out of the country and so I decided to go stay with her, breaking lockdown rules slightly, but with the plan to stay there indefinitely. All the time feeling like her neighbours would catch me and nervous that things would become even more tense between us.

I stayed with her for 2 months and we fell deeper in love than I could have imagined. We made up games, laughed ourselves into hysterics and had the most intense sex. I am so so glad that she came back and that we decided to take such a big risk to save what we had before all this.

Lockdown pretty much pushed us towards breaking up, but ended up forcing us closer together and forming a connection that will take a hell of a lot to break.
