Second chance

We are both retired and met for the first time at a school reunion at the end of 2019. He asked me out on a date, and I accepted. The day after our 2nd date I realised I had fallen madly in love with him. We only had 6 dates before he had to go over 6,000 miles away for 3 months! We kept in touch by text and video calls, but it was unbelievably painful being apart! 

Just when he was due to come back, Covid hit and all flights were cancelled! It took another 3 months before flights resumed. As our relationship had been halted so early, we were concerned that the beautiful fantasy we had created while he was away would not be sustained in real life. Thankfully, since he came back, our relationship has gone from strength to strength and I am so grateful for this second chance in life.
