Video calls

I’d given up. Living alone meant when the lockdown news hit I thought, at least I don’t need to worry about dating for a while!
Then some friends called me on a video call that first Saturday evening in March. They had asked other friends in on the call and suddenly I’d made a bunch of new friends within two weeks. I waited every week for Saturday to come and all we did was laugh for 6 hours +. No quiz, just pure banter. And then when restrictions lifted I met them all, the main guy being my friend’s fiancé’s best friend. We hit it off instantly. Everyone noticed the flirting on the video calls but everybody kept quiet! He asked me on a socially distanced date and we hit it off immediately. We spent the summer walking, talking and we realised we had crossed paths before in life but it obviously wasn’t the right time. We both live alone so decided to bubble up and we’ve been a couple now for 6 months. I couldn’t love anyone more if I tried. We have date night every Saturday- At home. We recreated Glastonbury in the front room and turned my attic into a cinema room. Every day gets more and more exciting. I’m grateful to lockdown, and I’m grateful to this year because it brought me him.
