Before the pandemic and official quarantine, my relationship for months with my partner was incredibly rocky. It was the actual definition of a “love-hate relationship”. As lockdowns started to set in, and the fear of spreading the virus was at all time high, my partner and I decided to not visit each other for a bit. As a few weeks went by without seeing each other, there was a newfound understanding we had our relationship. After months of fighting and insecurities between us, there was nothing negative to discuss. Only positive. We talked and talked more than ever over text, the phone, and found ourselves even interacting more over social media. During quarantine, I took my own free time as a way to start improving myself - my bad habits, any toxic thoughts, ideologies, etc. I starting really connecting to myself and my art, and this eventually led to a new appreciation for myself. I truly believe that this helped my relationship with my partner bloom into what it is today. I took care of a lot of my own demons, and my boyfriend did too. When we finally got together in person to see each other, we spent every second of our time just talking, laughing and loving. It hasn’t been like that since we first started dating and I’m gonna be honest, I wasn’t sure if it was going to last, but here we are a few months later and we are doing SO fantastic. He is worth fighting for. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder.
